Are you fed up of eating at fast food places when you take the children out to eat? Ruth and Rosie love to eat out and we’ve taken them to restaurants since they were babies, here are my top 5 family friendly restaurants in Chester that we have visited on many occasions.
Firstly it has to be Hickorys, if you’re looking for a family friendly restaurant in Chester this is the place to go, junior cutlery, great menu choices including fruit cocktails and amazing puddings for the kids, a playroom, colouring sheets and pencils plus attentive staff. This place is bustling and rarely quiet so it doesn’t matter if your tot hasn’t quite mastered the art of sitting quietly, they have highchairs and baby changing but the food and beer for adults still gives you a great dining experience. I’d be as happy eating here with the kids as I would be later in the evening with a group of girlfriends. Situated on The Groves, you can also sit out the front with a drink and watch the world go by. Downsides are that it is always busy, you may struggle to get a table and the staff don’t always handle the waiting list well, plus it can be a little pricey dependent on menu choices. Overall though it is a great place. http://www.hickorys.co.uk/
Next on our family friendly favourites list is Ristorante Sergio, this is a lovely little Italian on St Werburgh’s Street. The restaurant is family run and the staff are wonderful with children, they do half size portions of much of the menu and are very flexible at catering for children. The pizza garlic breads are a favourite of Ruth and Rosie. This restaurant has highchairs and baby changing so it’s fine for little ones and the open kitchen ensures that there is always a buzz so it doesn’t matter if the kids make a noise. Pizza and peroni is my favourite option here and this restaurant is also good value for money. http://www.ristorantesergio.co.uk/index1.htm
Another favourite is The Coach House Inn, this place offers mix and match kids menus, highchairs, baby change and lovely staff, they do half size roast dinners on a Sunday and the adult food is good too. Right in the middle of town near to the Town Hall and opposite the Cathedral, this this traditional English pub is a good family friendly option. http://www.coachhousechester.co.uk/
It’s no surprise that there is more than one Italian on the list, Bollicinis is a place that we happily visit with Ruth and Rosie in tow, the friendly Italian staff and child friendly food makes it a good place to go. This place is a bit of a hidden gem in Rufus Court just off Northgate Street but well worth a visit. http://www.bollicini.co.uk/menus
Last but by no means least here is a mention for Moules a Go Go, situated on the rows above Watergate Street this restaurant is great for kids and even provide Nintendo DS for them to play on at the table. Staff are friendly and food options for children varied. We’ve only discovered this place in the last year having always thought it was a seafood only kind of place, regret not going sooner though, definitely worth a visit. http://www.moulesagogo.co.uk/
So they are for now my top 5 family friendly restaurants in Chester, have you visited any of them? Do you have any different favourites we always like to try new places especially if they are recommended.
